Memorial Day
Memorial Day has special meaning to Veterans. It is appropriate that Veterans should be the facilitators of the Memorial Day ceremonies.
The Memorial Day events start with the posting of the casket flags of those veterans who have passed. This is done at 6:00 AM at the Pilgrim Cemetery in Holland MI. These flags have the Veteran’s name, branch of service, and service era on the post. The flags are posted until 6:00 PM that same day.
A Memorial Day parade then starts on 8th Street in downtown Holland and goes to the Pilgrim Cemetery on 16th Street.
At the termination of the parade, there is a short ceremony at the Pilgrim Cemetery. This ceremony has portions of it facilitated by Veterans from the five service organizations that are part of the Holland Veteran’s Council.

The Holland Memorial Day parade is made possible through the generous donations of thousands of patriotic Americans like you. The parade is organized by the Holland Memorial Day committee / Holland Area Veterans Council, held annually to call attention to the true meaning of Memorial Day: honoring our fallen heroes.
